We probably won't want to rent a car (the left-side difficulty thing) and are trying to budget out some kind of transportation allowance using the very inexpensive bus system and the occasional taxi. Knowing how late they both run will really help with this planning Thankyou! Also, is there a way I could get some tourist brochures/bus schedules/tourist street maps sent to my home here before I leave for the Island in a month? Nassau Bahamas Taxi Fares Taxi's run 24/7 and are available from your hotel, and outside most restaurants or venues. If you venture somewhere you might not be able to hail one down, ask them to return for you at a particular time. As for jitneys, the #10 jitney runs from downtown to Cable Beach and back again and costs just $1. They generally run from 6am to 6pm. Occassionally you will see one freelancing at nite, but you can't count on it, and most of the time.. there's a private "party" going on inside if you find one. Stay clear. Jitneys run every few minutes from either downtown or Cable Beach. There are no jitneys to Paradise Island (Atlantis), although there is one that will carry you from downtown to the P.I. Bridge. You can then walk across the bridge to Paradise Island. Ask downtown for the number of the jitney. You can also take a Ferryboat to and from Nassau/Paradise Island from 9am to 5:30pm daily for $3pp. They run approx. every 30 minutes. You can pick up free maps of the area when you arrive, they are everywhere. More info: Bahamas | Bahamas Vacations | Bahamas News | Bahamas Real Estate
