My husband and I will be in Nassua next week for four days and would like to enjoy the most of the native culture that we can experience in that short time. Aside from visiting the Straw Market where would we go, what should we see, and where might we eat for everything authentic?

I'm planning a cruise to nassua in july. I have some friends who just got back 2 weeks ago, and said they were really dissapointed. They said it was so nasty and had trash everywhere, that you were better off staying on the ship. Is this true?

Yes, there is some litter. After all, Nassau is a real city, not a theme park. :)

But there is certainly not "trash everywhere".

IMHO you'd be crazy not to get off the ship. I think that Nassau has as much, maybe more, to do than most other cruise port destinations in the area. I also know, for a fact, that millions of visitors enjoyed themselves last year.

You can find seasonal averages on the Bahamas Bahamas Weather page on Bahamas-Travel.info.

Visit Bahamas-Weather.com for current Bahamas Weather conditions.

I don't think anyone can give a more accurate forecast of the weather so far in advance.

The US dollar and the Bahamian dollar are both accepted currencies in The Bahamas. They are valued the same in all retail transactions and are completely interchangeable. You could give a store clerk a Bahamian $10 bill and receive your change in US currency, or vice-versa.

Only if you plan on being right on the ocean would a jacket be necessary in September. If you are going to an evening beach party, or out on a boat, I'd bring a light jacket along.

Hi,

I will be in Nassau for 1 day (cruising) and would like to know beside those tourist traps (which of course i will be in as usual), is there a nice public beach that i can enjoy a clear warm water. I've read the Cabbage beach is nice, but the directions to it are confusing (behind the Atlantis, difficult to go to...) I don't mind to take a cab as long as it doesn't take hours to get there. Also, does it worth to walk across the bridge to Paradise Island, anything there beside the villages of the Atlantis? Thank you.

You may be able to drink, but gambling is pretty tight.

You may want to check your hotel for age requirements, one of you (you or your boyfried) must be 21 to rent a room in most hotels.
Check your hotel details.
