I've googled this question a million time and could not find an answer. Can someone please tell me what are the REAL differences between taking a tour with Islandworld Adventures versus taking the tour with Powerboat Adventures.

I know that there is a pricing difference of about $20, and that both go to Exuma. But I just can't choose between the two of them.

Is the food on one tour better than the other?
Are the people on one tour more experienced/friendlier than the other?

I am not sure that Islandworld Adventures people "feed" the sharks, like the Powerboat people do. Watching this will be of a great interest to us. Please advise!! =)

I can answer that question with authority as I have been on both excursions.

Powerboat Adventures is WAY superior!

The Powerboat crew is better trained and more service oriented. The food and activities are also much better.

Island World does finger food, vegetables and dip, etc.

Powerboat Adventures does steak, lobster and chicken.

If you have to "go", Island World offers you a tiny potty on their boat (or the great outdoors).

Powerboat Adventure's private island has bathrooms with hot and cold running water.

Island World lets you "explore" their barren island, which does have a nice beach.

Powerboat Adventures has an even more spectacular beach, nestled in a private cove, and they take you on a fantastic snorkeling adventure. You also get to pet stingrays and watch them feed sharks.

But, the biggest difference is really the people. The Powerboat Adventures crew is outstanding! Their boat captains are wonderful guys who quickly make you feel like you are part of their special world.

The Island World Adventure guy yelled at one of the guests who didn't hear what he had said.

Powerboat Adventures was the original out island excursion. Island World was started several years later by a "copycat" marketer who, in my opinion, has never lived up to the "real thing".

Neither of the companies advertise on our site and these comments are purely my own opinions. I recommend Powerboat Adventures to EVERY guest who comes to The Bahamas.

Lots of people think $175 is outrageous amount to pay for a one-day excursion. I did! Yet, I have never sent anybody on that trip who didn't come back and tell me it was worth every penny. In fact, many of the people went ahead and spent another $40 to get the video of their Powerboat Adventure.

Powerboat Adventures is awesome! I recently spent 7 nights in Nassau - going back and forth between cable beach and paradise island. We did the Powerboat trip the 3rd day we were there and it was the best day of my whole vacation! 175$ is pricy, but we booked online and saved 10% so it was roughly 151$/person. The drinks are delicious and unlimited, the food was very tasty, the beach is GORGEOUS, and the atmosphere was to die for.

Personally, I don't recommend the video.. Ours was cheesy with video spliced in that was from previous trips. But if you have the money and just want the memory then go ahead and get it.

We (4 adults, 2 kids ages 5 and 6) did powerboat adventures April 30, 2005 and it was great. We had dinner with another family that evening who did Island Adevntures and the two just don't compare. In summary, spend the extra 10 or 20 bucks and do Powerboat Aventures. The food was better and there was an open bar. There were plenty of activities for the kiddies including stingray feeding and watching other guests shark wrangle. My five year-old and I did a drift snorkle three times (he had his own equip and I'm not sure if they have kid sizes, probably do b/c they are so professional). The snorkle itself ok for a shallow reef and great for beginners. My son saw a large eagle ray and several reef sharks. Agree with poster above that the staff was really great and friendly. The other family stated that the Island adventures didn't have really any activities (they also go to Allen's Cay and feed the igunas) Powerboat adventures has been around so long that the wildlife start coming around the Cay when lunch is beng prepared.

Yeah it was a chunk of cash but for a family of three the same as a night at Atlantis. Don't be turned away by the price, it is well worth it.

Try to sit in the back of the boat, if you sit forward of the skipper you may have to stand to cope with the chop. (three kids sat on the seats just forward of the console and they were fine there and didn't have to stand.

My husband and I are leaving in four days to go to Nassau, and as I am five months pregnant, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to experience the island excursion without being able to ride the powerboat. I understand it is one of the best stingray encounters and it is unfortunate that we won't be able to experience it because I can't board the powerboat. Any suggestions would be great!! Thank you.

To protect your baby's health, it would be unwise to travel by powerboat or small airplane, which are the only two ways to get to the out islands efficiently.

A slow boat would get you there, but it may take too long for your vacation schedule.

However, there are other, closer excursions which offer a very nice experience without the need for powerboat transportation.

Check out Dolphin Encounters.

Hi, I am going to stay at Atlantis on Monday for a 2 week honeymoon [wedding is on Sat], we think we will go on the Powerboat adventures but want to see how things are on our holiday before booking a date - are there restrictions for booking on-line or could we just go on-line a few days before?

Also are you allowed to video and take photos as would rather make my on movie than pay $40.00 for something which will need converting and probably wont show us much?

Thanks

There are no restrictions that I know of, however availability can sometimes be a problem during peak tourist seasons (which is not happening now).

Yes, you can take videos and pictures, but I wouldn't discount their video package so quickly. The fellow who shoots it is pretty good and captures the essence of the trip quite nicely. Some people buy his video, plus shoot their own supplementary footage.
