I haven't been there yet but I have heard it is expensive at the Atlanis, $6 for large (not sure size) and $3 for small, and is expensive at other hotels as well. I've heard if you go downtown you can buy from vendors for $1 for small ones and $2 for liters. Also, you can buy them cheaper than the hotels at local delis and such. The water is safe to drink.. But just tastes bad compared to what we are used to. We just got back on Saturday. Just take some crystal lite or kool aid. More info: Bahamas | Bahamas Vacations | Bahamas News | Bahamas Real Estate

I've been to the Bahamas so many times that I cannot remember the exact number; although it's in the range of about 115-125. Since I was 6 months old, my parents have been taking me there, and now that I'm married and have my own family, I come about twice a year during Christmas and spring break, and I've seen it all. I've gone to almost every island except the small ones down south of the Bahamas due to their remote location, and let me tell you, NEVER drink the tap water. You will be sick for a good day and just won't want to do anything. Currently, I'm writing this from my house on Paradise Island and a family friend just flew in and has been here a coupe of days, and she did happen to drink the water, and yesterday she was sick the whole day. She couldn't even come to the newly re-opened Cafe Martinique at the Marina Village at Atlantis (that's THE best restaurant at the moment), so for your safety, please don't drink the water, because the Bahamian filtration system isn't developed enough to filter all forms of bacteria. A lot of the locals drink it, but tourists beware. More info: Bahamas | Bahamas Vacations | Bahamas News | Bahamas Real Estate
