We found the people on Grand Bahama Island so kind, gracious and helpful. Many seemed particularly drawn to help us with our 4 young kids....we stayed at Viva Fortuna, also at the Westin Our Lucaya and had a perfect time....I left an expensive camera on my beach towel for over a 1/2 hour and it wasn't touched...We never felt unsafe.
