We are considering purchasing a condo at Palm Bay. Can anyone tell me more about the island and/or Palm Bay? It appears to be growing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Palm Bay is a great place. I have spent plenty of time there and was looking at doing a development on the island but never had the opportunity. Ron, the owner has done a great job and it is a good investment as well for they seem to fill up well and with the construction current and future on the island, you should have no problem renting the unit. I would stay away from The Village at Hoopers Bay, The Island Club and Rokers Point. The owners (Brent Hurt & The Barton's) misrepresent their projects and have taken many deposits from investors in the past! Please pass this along to anyone you know... Good luck!

I guess if you're in business long enough, someone will take a shot at you eventually. I probably shouldn't get overly concerned about "anonymous" postings, but for the record, the above comments about The Village at Hooper's Bay are untrue. The Village is not assoicated with The Island Club (except that we share a common property line) nor Roker's Point (at Emerald Bay), or any of its principals. We do try to maintain open and cooperative dialogue with all adjacent landowners, as well frankly, with everyone on Exuma. The Village has never taken deposits from anyone except in the course of building homes.

So much for anonymous comments. He/She did get one thing right; Ron has a great place at Palm Bay and I encourage all visitors to Exuma to check it out. I'd also, of course, welcome the chance to show interested parties The Village at Hooper's Bay. I am always available to answer quesitons, provide references, our current price list and construction schedule.

If you need an insight into the character of Brent Hurt read the warnings given on the Broker Check of the SEC or NASD website. These are made available to the public so they can be made aware of unscrupulous brokers, bogus financial advisors aka CONMEN.

He has been censured for providing "misleading and false information to clients, the NASD and SEC" also "not putting clients money into escrow" in other words lying to clients and taking money which doesn't belong to him.

I Disagree if your interested in purchasing a condo. The best place in Exuma Is Island condo's. They have brand new condo's furnished and unfurnished. My Farther bought one and its beautyfull, rite ont the beach and he bought at negotiable price if u want you can contact Ms. Cartwright at 242-422-7040

Island condos are the best on Exuma. I now this because am and Exumian born and raised. I have had the liberty of viewing them and there wonderful.

Although there exists some controversial opinions about the status of some of the developments on the island, I do want to mention that both Palm Bay and the Village at Hooper's Bay are excellent investment opoportunities handled in a very professional manner. In regards to the Village, there appears to be some personality disputes present (as the above messages indicate), but I would urge other potential investors to look past the previous trivial clashes in personality with Brent Hurt. In my experience, Brent Hurt and those associated with the development have made many intelligent choices with their planning and have constructed a very pleasant and relaxing community in the heart of Exuma Island.

I have spent some time in this development and would say that this opportunity is perfect for the investor that not only wants a wise financial opportunity but also wants to be able to enjoy their property and make a worthwhile vacation home out of it. The island of Exuma is growing fast and has seen a lot of tourism in the past few years (as evidenced by the growing number of flights landing in Georgetown airport- the island's only airport) but still retains a very secluded and tranquil environment. Regardless of what investment interests you may have, Exuma is an incredible vacation getaway that should be experienced.

we rent one of the new units at palm bay (2 bdrm 2 bath house). it is wonderful, well constructed (my husband works in construction so can be quite the critic). service from ron and his staff is great - highly recommended. things here are booming, and it took us a year to find a decent, affordable place to rent long term.
