I am looking for information on jointly owned property that my ex-husband might have sold without my consent. I dont have the exact address so i was wondering if you could inform me of a government agency or other source that might be able to give me that information.

This is just based on what I have read. Land titles don't have to be recorded to be valid, but if they are recorded, they are kept at the Registry of Records which is part of the Department of Education - Human Resource Section. They are recorded by name, not by street address.

You can get to their web site if you go to bahamaseducation.com and go to the site map and select Human Resources Section. No doubt there's an easier way, but I haven't found it yet.

My family was traveling in Exuma and identified some parcels of land that they would be interested in purchasing but were not listed. The realtor indicated that they were sold to foreign purchasors in the late 60's but had no other information. If the property records aren't necessarily recorded and if they are, they are categorized by name, how would one go about identifying the owners and asking if they would be interested in selling?

Before you deposit any funds for the purchase of any property, be sure that the seller actually owns the property. I just ran into a situation where H. G. Christie was advertising a parcel of property which included my property, house and all. They bulldozed roads all through my property and put new surveyer marks down. When confronted with their error, they confessed error and pulled their add from the internet. Let the buyer beware!
