GROWING INTEREST IN FARMING
Philip Smith, Executive Chairman of the newly-formed Agricultural Development Organization (ADO), joined farmers and interested parties at Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera February 17 when Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs Clay Sweeting visited the former dairy farming capital of The Bahamas to announce the welcome re-opening of the long-shuttered packing house. Launched with a $1.1 million donation from Bahamas-based FTX, the world’s second largest crypto exchange, ADO is supporting government’s determination to bolster food security by aiding farmers with technology and methodology and plans to work with BAMSI, BTVI and other agencies engaged in beefing up the agricultural sector.
