Prime Minister Phillip Davis Monday outlined his vision for digital transformation in the Caribbean, announcing also that his country would be hosting CANTO 2025.
Founded in 1985, CANTO is the leading Caribbean organisation dedicated to facilitating technological and digital advancement across the region.
The annual conference gathers industry leaders to forge paths in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) development and resilience.
Addressing the 39th annual CANTO Conference and Trade Exhibition in Miami, Davis articulated what he described as a bold vision for the digital future of Caribbean region.
“The digital landscape is rapidly evolving, and The Bahamas is at the forefront, championing a future where technology enhances the lives of all our citizens,” Prime Minister Davis said, highlighting the transformative power of digital platforms in government services and financial inclusion.
He pointed to the successful launch of the “Sand Dollar,” the world’s first central bank digital currency, addressing also the critical need for robust global standards and regulatory frameworks for Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Focusing on the importance of digital literacy, Prime Minister Davis said “our vision includes creating a comprehensive digital transformation roadmap that encompasses all Bahamians, regardless of location or economic status”.
