Before the ramen police arrest me, let me be clear: in no way is this a traditional ramen recipe. In fact, this isn’t a recipe at all. More of a guide to making your very own ramen at home! Keep it super simple or get as creative as you’d like. There’s no wrong way to make your perfect bowl of ramen!
Base:
The first thing you’ll need to get started on your homemade ramen is going to be broth. Feel free to start with store-bought or homemade vegetable broth. Try my low-waste homemade veggie stock recipe! If you’ve got any prepped vegetables or anything that might be going bad soon, chuck it into your broth for extra flavor! I like to add a few mushrooms and some kombu (seaweed). Just strain out any solids before you assemble your ramen.
Noodles:
Now let’s talk about the second most important thing. Noodles! Traditionally, ramen is made with egg noodles. I like to use GF & Vegan ramen or rice noodles. I also love using cool and crunchy cucumber or zucchini noodles. And in a pinch, you can even use plain old boxed pasta!
Toppings:
The final step in constructing your perfect bowl of, and most fun in my opinion, is picking out toppings! The options are endless! It’s about what you have on hand and what you like.
