For the first time in several years, Florida Powerboat Club members have three options for summer adventures in The Bahamas. The funs starts June 4-11 with the 33rd annual Bahamas Poker Run to Bimini, Chub Cay and Nassau. Next up is a new event, the Bahamas Summer Fling set for July 16-21. Once club members arrive in Bimini, they will make day-trips to Old Bahama Bay and West End from Resorts World Bimini, the host venue for the run.

Rounding out the event trio is the August Northern Bahamas Island Hop. Scheduled for August 14-19, the event’s destinations include Old Bahama Bay, West End, Hopetown and Abacos.

“We have not offered three Bahamas runs for a number of years, but we used to offer as many as five trips to The Bahamas a year,” explained Stu Jones, the club’s founder and owner. “Back in the 1990s, I would start runs to The Bahamas in May and go through September.”

The fleets for the club’s Bahamas adventures average 15 boats most often of the outboard engine-powered center-console kind, according to Jones. As such, they are intimate affairs where participants get to know each other while exploring the island waters of the closest foreign country to South Florida.
