A radio boss last night demanded an apology from US ambassador Richard Blankenship for barring certain sections of the media from an important meeting last week. He claimed the decision was “a major faux pas” on the part of the embassy.
Wendal Jones, CEO of Love 97 and The Bahama Journal, said Mr. Blankenship must take full responsibility for the situation and apologising was “the only honourable thing to do.”
Mr. Jones said it was inevitable that media houses would take a dim view of the decision to allow only ZNS and the Nassau Guardian into such an inportant meeting. He expressed surprise that ZNS and the Guardian went along with the embassy’s plans.
Mr. Jones’ comments came as Mr. Blankenship announced that he will meet news editors on Thursday to explain why certain sections of the media were barred from the meeting with a US Congressman.
