General Manager and executive Vice President of Atlantic Medical Insurance , Mrs. Lynda Gibson recently presented Zachary Lyons, 2002 Primary School Student of the Year with a scholarship cheque. The presentation marks Atlantic Medical’s ongoing commitment to The Primary Scholl Student of the Year competition, which is in it’s sixth year.
The competition is sponsored by the Nassau Bahamas National Pan- Hellenic Council and is aimed at promoting and recognizing well-rounded students who excel in academics as well as other extracurricular activities.
Zachary, a sixth grade student at Quenn’s College Primary School is described as “industrious, well-mannered, quiet and polite. He possesses a positive attitude towards school and is very caring and helpful. He has maintained honour roll status at this school since his enrollment in grade two. His report cards clearly demonstrate that he is focused, gifted and enthusiastic about his work. An excellent student, he works exceptionally well, always striving to achieve the very best results.”
According to Zachary, “I was happy to be chosen as the overall winner. My essay was on My Bahamian Dream and I tried my best to paint The bahamas as a beautiful place for our visitors, while focusing on the sun, sea, sand and our friendly people.”
When asked what he is going to do with the money he responded, “I am going to use this money to help pay for college.” With regards to his future aspirations he delightfully replied, “I want to be an obstetrician/gynecologist, just like my father, Dr. Allan Lyons.”
