Corporate governance will be the theme of this year’s Bahamas Investment Conference, according to the Bahamas Financial Services Board.
The BFSB announced on Monday that the conference, which will be held on October 19, will address ‘the need to educate Bahamians from every walk of life on the merit of investing, and will discuss tips on identifying available and profitable investment opportunities.’
Corporate governance has been adopted as the theme of this year’s event due to its implications for the economic health of corporations in the light of recent events in America. Good corporate governance, the Investment Conference will be told, can enhance the return on capital through increased shareholder accountability.
The BFSB revealed that speakers at the one day event will include Minister for Financial Services and Investments, Allyson Maynard Gibson, and representatives from the Central Bank of the Bahamas and the Bahamas International Securities Exchange, among others.
