Approximately $1.5 million was invested in the expansion of the infrastructure, which was showcased to guests during an officially opening ceremony on Thursday.
Among well-wishers, family members, and artists in attendance was the Minister of Financial Services and Investments Allyson Maynard Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson congratulated the owner of the company Mr. Andrew Rodgers, and his family for their contribution to the Bahamian artists and their artwork.
“We want to congratulate the Rodgers and their family and staff for continuing to showcase Bahamian artists,” she said, but also noting that by investing in the Bahamian artists and artworks, The Nassau Glass Company was additionally showing commitment to not only The Bahamas, but the Bahamian economy.
Mr. Andrew Rodgers who spoke on behalf of his family attributed much of the success of the business to his dedicated and long-standing employees.
“With a lot of hard work, I think we have obviously shown a lot of excellent results in a very short time,” he stated.
According to his wife and business partner Mrs. Ann Rodgers, the gallery expansion was a much-needed one as the number of artworks showcased by the gallery continued to increase.
“The Bahamian artist and their talent has grown immensely and we want to be able to present it properly to the public,” she said.
The Nassau Glass Company was established in 1959 as a glass fabricating business, but has since expanded to include an art gallery and custom framing division, as well as a lighting division that is currently being refurbished and expected to be completed next February.
