PARADISE ISLANDラFrench journalist Michele Dokan and photographer Jean-Claude Amiel recently journeyed to Paradise Island to explore Kerzner Intenationalᄡs Atlantis, Paradise Island and Ocean Club properties. The purpose of their trip was to garner enough material to produce five feature stories for the upscale French womenᄡs magazine Point de Vue.
During their stay, the pair had the opportunity to conduct interviews with Kerzner International employees and partake in property tours of both resorts. No visit to Atlantis being complete however, without an exploration of its waterscape; the largest tropical marine habitat in the world where 200 species of marine life reside within the 11 million gallons of salt water.
The writer and photographer also viewed the interesting sea life from the 100-foot underwater pedestrian walkway and experienced the world of a once thriving-ancient civilization lost thousands of years ago beneath the seaラThe Dig.
Michelle Liu-Ferguson, Director of Water Features provided insight into the very involved nature of Atlantisᄡ waterscape and the function that her department plays in its existence, such as fish feedings and the cleaning of the many exhibits at Atlantis, as well as giving them a sneak-peek at the fish hospital and the fish kitchen.
Alex Powell, Executive Chef at Dune assisted with a tour of the Dune restaurant, kitchen and bar and provided mouthwatering dishes for Dokan and Amiel to not only see but also to taste. A scrumptious spread of lobster tagliatelle made with lobster from Maine and a delectable Bahamian lobster salad, as well as a separate feature on tropical cocktails will appear on the pages of the weekly-circulated magazine.
Another area of concentration for the feature stories was the Mandara Spa at Atlantis and the Ocean Club Spa where they encountered the ultimate services in pampering the body and soul. With its European and Asian flair, the spas offer an array of self-indulging facilities including body and aromatherapy treatments, massages, facials and salon services using only high quality natural ingredients.
French speaking Rachela Tirelli, Public Relations Manager who was both hostess and coordinator of the media visit felt that the week of conducting shoots and interviews was quite successful. “It is always a pleasure to host media from my second home,” said Bahamian born Tirelli. “And, it is quite a coup to have a magazine as prestigious as Point de Vue cover five stories for Atlantis and Ocean Club.”
