Eighty per cent of those who voted in The Tribune’s “Question of the Week” said that Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Neville Wisdom should resign over the $1 million loss on the contract to provide bleachers for the 2002/2003 Junkanoo parades.
Last week 604 people voted in the poll with 482 voting “yes” for “firing” the minister.
Many “Yes” voters said that if government was telling about there being no money in the Treasury then Mr. Wisdom’s loss should not be tolerated. If the money had to be spent there should have been something tangible to show for it.
Some “No” voters said Mr. Wisdom should not be punished for trying something new, while others said he should be transferred to a different ministry. A few “no” voters said he should remain in office and remake the money lost.
