The College of The Bahamas is adding a new college management software system to completely modernise its business operations applications. Dr. Leon L. Higgs, President of The College of The Bahamas, announced that the new software, called SCT PowerCampus, has been contracted from SCT Software Company of Malvern, Pennsylvania, a 34-year-old company serving over 1,800 institutions in the higher education market.
This new technology will benefit the entire COB communityï¾—administration, students, faculty and staff.
Benefits include elimination of registration lines, electronic transcript posting for persons sending grades abroad, speedy grade processing, and simplified procedures related to registration and advisement.
SCT PowerCampus is made up of six (6) modules:
1) Admissions: An interactive admissions process, allowing for provisional admissions, re-admissions for alumni, credit transfer evaluations, etc.
2) Academic Records/Academic Plan: Integration of student records with a prescribed programme of study tracked and available to all authorised to see. Degree audits for correct prediction of graduation/completion, and better class management.
3) Student Billing: Customised payment plans, distributed billings, credit card payments, online payments at registration, seamless integration into institutional general ledger.
4) Institutional Advancement: Alumni tracking, research development and fund raising drives.
5) Finance Module: Fund accounting, general ledger, receipt and tracking of online payments.
6) Web Component: Integration of the five previous modules and deployment via a web portal for interfacing on the World Wide Web.
Installation and training in SCT PowerCampus is expected to take 12 months from start to completion, with consultants coming in to perform training and implementation exercises throughout the period.
