C&W Withdraw From BTC Bid Process

Cable and Wireless (West Indies) has withdrawn from the the contest to become the Bahamas Telecommunications Company’s (BTC) strategic partner, James Smith, the minister of state for finance, revealed to The Tribune, reducing the bidding field to just three.

Mr. Smith said that to appear before the Tenders Commission, the committee formed to scrutinise and evaluate all the preliminary bids for BTC, Cable and Wireless and the three rival bidders were all required to pay a fee and submit completed documentation. However, said the minister, Cable and Wireless were reluctant to submit the documentation and withdrew from the process.
