A young man’s ambitions and dreams of becoming a Hollywood actor ended early Saturday morning, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a casuarina tree.
Justin Ross Scott, 24, became the 11th traffic fatality for the year.
He was the son of Callender and Co. law firm partner Michael Scott and Mrs. Anne McClean Bease. Mr. Scott said his son took a year off from studies at the University of Western Ontario to gain experience at Cable Bahamas, in preparation for his career.
Justin was a Public Affairs assistant to Dr. Keith Wisdom.
Mr Scott said his son was interested in the film industry and had entered Western Ontario University as a film major.
“He planned to return to Western to complete his degree, then move to the New York Film Academy. From there he was to move to Los Angeles to further his career.”
Reflecting on his son’s achievements, Mr. Scott said Justin was Sergeant Major of his cadet corps squad and won the award for Best Company. He graduated from St. Andrew’s College, Toronto, and was recruited to play football for Team Canada, touring the United Kingdom.
Upon graduation Justin received the Most Valuable Player award for both Football and Rugby.
Mr. Scott said on Friday night Justin and a group of his friends hired a limousine to go to a friends house at Bayroc then to Waterloo. He said Justin parked his car at his friend Etienne Christen’s home at Bayroc.
The limousine then returned Justin and his friends to Bayroc after 4:30 am Saturday morning, where Justin got into his car and left for his father’s apartment at Cave’s Point.
Mr. Scott said Justin’s mother phoned him just after 6am and told him that she was on her way to Sandyport, where their eldest son was involved in an accident.
When Mr. Scott and Mrs. Bease arrived at the scene, policemen were using the Jaws of Life to free Justin from the wreckage.
