300 Jobs To Be Created By New Casino Deal

Nearly 300 casino jobs will be created foir Bahamians at the Lucaya strip when an agreement is signed with new casino operators, possibly late this summer, said Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe.

Mr. Wilchcombe said government and Isle of Capri are in the process of concluding negotiations for the opening of the casino at the Westin and Sheraton at Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort.

A job fair, he said, is scheduled in the first week of June. “In the first instance near 300 workers will be hired for the casino. But we believe that the total number of jobs will increase significantly to 500 over the incoming years,” said the minister.
