Chamber Urges Companies To Focus Internally For FTAA

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce is urging its members and the wider business community to prepare for the Free Trade Area of The Americas (FTAA) and other such arrangements by focusing internally to ensure the products and services they provide are created with maximum efficiency.

Philip Simon, the Chamber’s newly appointed executive director told The Tribune in an exclusive interview that with some 80-90 per cent of the FTAA treaty still undecided, and negotiations over this nation’s membership in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Caribbean Single Market Economy (CSME) still ongoing, companies should focus on ensuring their own systems and products are up to standard with international competitors, rather than worrying about the content of such agreements.
