Club Knifing Death

Carlton Newry was stabbed to death behind the Cocktails and Dreams club Friday night during a fight with a club security guard.

Club manager Stafford Fowler told The Tribune that a little before 11pm, Newry came into the club with three friends. Mr. Fowler, who saw what happened on the club’s security cameras, said Newry went onto the back patio of the club, where he asked a security guard for a drink. The guard replied he had no money. Mr. Fowler said Newry threw his drink on the guard and soon they were shoving each other into their chests.

It was not clear who hit first, but Mr. Fowler said Newry and his three friends teamed up against the guard.

When Newry fell to the floor shortly afterwards his friends disappeared. No one thought it was serious until they saw blood. Newry was dead when he got to the hospital.

Because of a promotion at the club there were about 150 people there on Friday. Cocktails and Dreams has not opened since the incident since the incident and Charles Johnson, the owner, said he is not sure when they will be open again.
