Government has accordingly allocated $400,000 to rectifying these defects and with the help of the Nassau Tourism and Development Board (NTDB), hopes to raise an additional $100,000 from the private sector – to be used in what will be a joint Downtown Improvement Initiative.
The findings of a task force formed in February to assess the Bay Street tourism product were announced yesterday by the NTDB, who held a meeting with the downtown business community to share plans for the improcement initiative.
Guest speakers Norman Solomon and Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe emphasised the necessity of cooperation between the government and private sector.
