Mitchell Says PLP Not Anti-Labour

Foreign Affairs Minister, Fred Mitchell, denied Wednesday that the PLP government is anti-labour, as he pleaded with government workers to hold to the “reasonable postponement” to December of increased payments due them.

Mr. Mitchell, who is also responsible for the public service, made an all encompassing contribution on the 2003/2004 budget debate in the House of Assembly.

Said Mr. Mitchell: ” The PLP is not anti-worker and it’s not anti-union. The PLP is worker friendly and pro-union, but the Progressive Liberal Party also makes up th government of the Bahamas.

Quite apart from what our philosophical views are, we are the government of the Bahamas and that means we must be responsible for the greater good.”
