Coralwave Internet Expands in Abaco

Earlier this month Cable Bahamas continued its ongoing expansion programme designed to bring broadband Internet access to more residents of Abaco when it activated the service in these settlements south of Marsh Harbour.

Cable Bahamas General Manager of Grand Bahama and Abaco Erik Russell said that this can mean entire new possibilities for home and business customers in those areas. “We have found that, when CoralWave becomes available, families discover the benefits of being able to stay in touch with each other in ways they never have before,” he said.

In addition to improving personal communications, companies in these areas will be able to more readily access company information, contact offices located elsewhere, and communicate with their suppliers less expensively and with greater immediacy.

Mr Russell said that Cable Bahamas has particularly focused on education and ensuring that students can enjoy the benefits of this high-speed service. “CoralWave makes it possible for teachers to use the Internet as an integral part of their instruction,” Mr Russell said. “They donᄡt have to worry about getting online or waiting for things to happen anymore. CoralWave has the fastest downloads speeds available so the teachers can focus on teaching and not be distracted by poor Internet access.”

Cable Bahamas also provides free Internet access to government operated schools throughout New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco and Eleuthera. “Our obligation was to provide cable TV service to public schools,” Mr Russell stated, “but we believe that the Internet is an essential tool in todayᄡs classroom, and thatᄡs why we provide it as well.”

CoralWave has become the number one Internet service in the Bahamas since it was introduced almost three and a half years ago. Cable Bahamas serves more than 16,000 households and over 1,200 businesses throughout the Bahamas. Abaco first received CoralWave Internet in February 2002.

CoralWave is now available in the following areas of Abaco: Marsh Harbour (including Dundas Town and Murphy Town), Man-O-War Cay, Hope Town, and now Cherokee Sound and Casuarina Point.
