Cable Bahamas Signs NFL Agreement

Football fans in the Bahamas have a new reason to rejoice as Cable Bahamas signed a new deal to bring the popular NFL SUNDAY TICKET package to cable TV subscribers in the two main population centres.

After several months of negotiations the National Football League and Cable Bahamas Ltd. finalised their new two-year contract, which makes Cable Bahamas their exclusive distributor to residential and commercial subscribers throughout the Bahamas. In addition to New Providence, Cable Bahamas will be extending NFL SUNDAY TICKET to cable subscribers in Grand Bahama this year for the first time.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a full season subscription package that delivers all NFL football games broadcast on FOX and CBS on Sunday afternoons at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. during the regular season. This season includes 215 games over the 17-week period.

Director of Marketing and Pay-Per-View at Cable Bahamas David Burrows said that getting NFL SUNDAY TICKET through Cable Bahamas is well worth it. "Our residential subscription rate is $50 less than satellite subscribers pay in the United States, plus we don't have any blackouts," Burrows said. "That means you get every NFL SUNDAY TICKET football game at almost 30% less than in the U.S."

Burrows noted that Cable Bahamas is one of only two cable TV companies in the world that is authorised to sell NFL SUNDAY TICKET. This year is the company's fifth season of offering the package.

The cable company will also be offering special incentives and promotions this season. "We will be giving away NFL game tickets and special travel packages to our subscribers," Mr Burrows stated. "Early bird subscribers and those that subscribed to NFL SUNDAY TICKET last season will pay only $149, as long as they sign up before August 31st. Our regular season rate is $169."

The package is also available to commercial establishments such as hotels, casinos, bars, and restaurants. Rates are based on the occupancy of the establishment and run as low as $21 per week, depending on the size of the business. Mr Burrows said that NFL SUNDAY TICKET can be a huge draw for customers. "NFL SUNDAY TICKET can attract customers to a bar or restaurant for several hours on a Sunday afternoon. It means customers get what they want and a bar or restaurant builds loyal patrons throughout the 17-week football season," Mr Burrows claimed.

Commercial subscribers will receive marketing support and premium cable set-top boxes to display the service in their business.

Customers needing more information or wishing to sign up for the service can e-mail NFL@cablebahamas.com or call toll free from anywhere within the Bahamas to 1-242-300-2200, 356-2200 in New Providence, or 350-8830 in Grand Bahama.
