Four Seasons Job Hunt Heads to Nassau

Tracey Wiese, director of human resources for the resort, said no one has been officially hired.

"We saw some great candidates here that we will look to consider for the positions. But because of the busy nature of the job fair and the involved nature of our interviewing process, we did not have enough time to complete all of the paper work."

Another recruitment fair is scheduled for Aug. 28, 29 and 30 at the Sir Kendall Isaac's Gymnasium in Nassau between eight a.m. and seven p.m. Application forms will be available at the gymnasium.

Depending on how well the recruitment process is received in Nassau, Ms Wiese said the resort also plans to continue to recruit for any remaining positions on other islands.

"We will not set up large job fairs on all of the islands like we have in Exuma or Nassau," she said. "But we do plan to do at least one other recruitment procedure in one of the other islands and we will be accepting applications from all of the islands."

Ms Wiese said limited housing will be allocated based on availability and will depend on the number of people hired locally who do not need housing.

Minister of Labour and Immigration, Vincent Peet, commended the resort for bringing a five-star property to Exuma that will employ Bahamians at every level. "This will do a lot to reduce the unemployment level in The Bahamas and provide well-paying jobs for Bahamians."

The minister said he has been advised that the pay will be competitive and there will be numerous training opportunities for employees.

"As part of our arrangement with them, there will be provision to train Bahamians and to expose them to the highest level of management training and expertise." He said his ministry will work with the resort to ensure as many managers as possible are trained and qualified Bahamians.

The 183-room resort will have a Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf club and a full service spa and health club. The resort is a part of the international chain of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts that manages 58 properties in 27 countries.
