The Marathon Mall got more than its share of drama Saturday afternoon when two boys who were walking suddenly found themselves confronted by two men who demanded that they get in their car.
Assistant Commissioner of Crime Reginald Ferguson told The Tribune yesterday that the two suspects are believed to be residents of the Carmichael Road area.
The dramatis twist of events unravelled at about 6:40pm when two boys left a group of about six to eight persons on a Claridge Road park.
"Apparently there is an adjoining track road between the park and the mall territory and they were walking towards the mall when this car, which they had observed earlier, pulled up and stopped just by them," said Mr. Ferguson.
The two men who were in the car got out and I think they held onto one of these boys and tried to put them in the car," he said.
"The back trunk was opened as if they were trying to nudge them towards the back trunk."
The Tribune source on the scene said that one of the boys started "one piece of hollerin'" that everyone in the area turned to see what was going on.
"I understand that a number of persons gathered in protest and the chaps just drove off leaving the boys ," Mr. Ferguson added.
Persons who were gathered on the scene were stunned to see the same car parked a short time later at the mall. they rushed to inform the police.
"The officers responded and took action into taking the men into custody," he said. "The men are expected to be charged.
