PLP Concerned Over FNM’s Allegations of Corruption

The PLP were reportedly dismayed to see the former prime minister making a dynamic appearance at a political rally in Freeport.

Mr. Ingraham has made it clear to the public that he does not feel the PLP government are doing a good job. He has accused cabinet ministers of falling down on the job, and being slack, arrogant and incompetent.

Mr. Ingraham has accused Immigration Minister Vincent Peet of failing to properly deal with corruption in his key department, which is responsible for keeping out illegal immigrants.

The PLP government has also been labelled by Mr. Ingraham as “wishy-washy” in their position on the Caribbean Single Market Economy and job market proposals by CARICOM. These accusations have brought about what appear to be panicked, or ill-judged responses from Prime Minister Perry Christie, Vincent Peet and Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell.

Vincent Peet at first refuted that the Immigration Department was riddled with corruption, but then a day later admitted that four immigration officers were being investigated for alleged corruption practices. The Prime Minister continued to deny the claims of corruption despite Mr. Peet’s admission that there was an investigation. Minister Mitchell made statements indicating that Ingraham should not be making public speeches.
