U.S. 12, Bahamas 0

SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic, Aug. 4 (UPI) — Mark Romanczuk combined with two relievers on a four-hitter Sunday night as the United States crushed the Bahamas, 12-0, at the Pan Am Games.


In the win, Tyler Green homered as the U.S. remained unbeaten.


The United States extended its winning streak to 24 games with its second straight victory in this tournament. On Saturday, Justin Orenduff and Stephen Head combined on a four-hitter in a 10-0 rout of Guatemala.


Romanczuk pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits while striking out nine. Micah Owings and Matt Campbell worked the final 1 1/3 frames before the game was called due to the 10-run rule.


Green belted a solo homer to cap a five-run sixth as Team USA posted its second straight seven-inning win.


On Monday, the U.S. faces its first real test of the tournament when it plays the Dominican Republic, which pounded Guatemala, 14-0.


The Bahamas (0-2) has been outscored, 21-1, in its first two games.


Also, Cuba (1-0) recorded a 5-0 win over Panama.
