Fish processor Roswell Sawyer, agronomist John Hedden, and contractor William Swain will take part in the First Annual Abaco Business Outlook on September 17 at the Abaco Beach Resort.
The meeting will be the first of its kind on Abaco. It is organised by The Counsellors Ltd, a Nassau marketing firm, in conjunction with the Abaco Chamber of Commerce and private sponsors.
Mr. Sawyer is president of Bahamas Seas Ltd Mr. Hedden is president of Asterix, and Mr. Swain is president of Bill Swain & Sons Construction Co. These sectors are the three engines of the Abaco Economy. Michael Albury, president of the Abaco Chamber of Commerce will also make a presentation.
The opening speaker will be John Rolle, who will present an original study on the Abaco Economy. Mr. Rolle is the deputy manager of the Central Bank’s Research Department.
He has had published articles in several professional journals, including ‘Money Affairs’ produced by the Centre for Monetary Studies of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Senator Dr. Marcus Bethel, Minister of Health and Environmental Services, will also address the conference. Dr. Bethel has received several awards during his career, including the Distinguished Physician Award, the Seashell Award for Health and Environment and the coveted Silver Jubilee Award in Medicine.
Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin will address transportation issues and Tourism Director-General Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace will talk about new concepts for Abaco Tourism.
Other speakers will include Craig Symonette of Bahamas Fast Ferries, Dr. Pandora Johnson, vice president of Planning & Development at The College of The Bahamas, Agatha Marcelle, parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, architect Jackson Burnside and S. G. Hambros Managing Director Betty Roberts.
The Counsellors has held 12 consecutive Business Outlook conferences in Nassau and five in Grand Bahama.
