Controversial rap star 50 Cent cursed his way through his lively performance in Nassau over the weekend, but “bleeped out” his most offensive profanities in deference to local protesters.
For sheer naughtiness, he was upstaged by American singer Trina, whose sexually explicit stage antics had the crowd poulsating.
But, for all the pre-show hype and lurid warnings by critics, the show went off without a hitch – and police say they were satisfied with audience behaviour, even though many spectators belted out the offensive lyrics which 50 Cent himself felt obliged to delete.
The crowd at Queen Elizabeth Sports centre paid between $25 and $100 to see 50 Cent in action. What they got was the rap star’s staple fare of foul language and glorification of violence, with expletives interspersed by simulated gunshots.
While this was no occasion for the faint-hearted, the 1,000 or so spectators appeared to enjoy themselves. And when Trina went through her bump-and-grind routine with the guys onstage, no-one seemed to take offence.
