Thousands Turn Out To Celebrate ‘Mind, Body And Spirit’

From Bahamian arts and crafts, exotic plants and fabulous fabrics to financial advice, cars and the latest in technology — it was all there at the 2003 Nassau Womenメs Show last weekend.

Thousands turned out to celebrate ムMind, Body and Spiritメ at the Radisson Cable Beach Resort Conference Centre and learn about the products and services being showcased by dozens of local businesses, big and small. It was an exciting two days, featuring a wide variety of talks and presentations as well as lots of product samples, giveaways and great prizes.

The spectacular grand prize was a $6,000 down payment on a home, courtesy of Gold Circle Company Ltd.

モThe response, both from participating businesses and the public, was wonderful,ヤ said Amanda Knowles, conference coordinator. モWeメre very grateful to the many people who contributed to making this first annual show such a great success, and weメre already looking forward to presenting this event again next year.ヤ

The weekend kicked off with a glittering Cocktail Reception at which the winners of the Showメs ムCelebrate Womenメ contest were honoured. The ムBahamasメ Best,メ based on submissions received from the public, were as follows: Best Sister: Ella Anderson, nominated by Inishka Lloyd; Best Boss (a tie): Kris Sandiford, nominated by Brenda Carey, and Joan Albury, nominated by Melanie Hutcheson; Best Mom: Euterpie Rigby, nominated by Vonetta Johnson; Best Friend: Sheila Thomas, nominated by Cora Cooper; Best Daughter: Mickeya Fox, nominated by Maxine Cooper, and Best Wife: Anastacia Knowles, Nominated by Shayne Knowles.

The 2003 Nassau Womenメs Show was presented by Verve Design & Promotions and More 94.9 FM. Corporate sponsors included Celebrity Limousines, Dames Associates Insurance Brokers & Agents Ltd., Gold Circle Company Ltd., Rubins, and Splash! Public Relations Ltd.

Part of the proceeds from the weekend will be donated to womenメs charities in the Bahamas.
