The first incident occurred at Montagu Bay when DEU officials searched a 45-ft vessel and discovered 1,060 pounds of hash oil, 2lbs of marijuana and 5lbs of hashish – a derivative of marijuana. The drugs had a street value of $2 million.
The man was taken into custody and his boat was seized. He is expected to be arraigned in court later this week.
The second incident took place between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday when OPBAT officers on routine patrol noticed a suspicious go-fast boat near Ragged Island. As they gave chase they observed the occupants tossing bales overboard.
While the boat got away, police were able to recover 3,480lbs of marijuana with an estimated street value of $3 million.
