Grenades Found On Beach

A boater discovered the objects on a beach where families picnic and children play on weekends.

The first object, described as a small, black, round object made of heavy rubber, was in a foil lined package. The word “grenade” was reportedly stamped on the canvas in black.

“At first I thought it may have contained cocaine,” the boater said.

The package carried a caution that strong smell would be released upon opening it.

The boater opened the package and said a strong chemical smell surfaced.

“The grenade was still good because it still had a pin in it,” the boater said.

Another two loose grenades were found together on the beach nearby, followed by three more about twenty feet away. The pins were intact in all six.

The words “Federal Laboratories, 119 CN” were stamped on the grenades, the boater said.

“If some one pulled the pins it would have created one hell of a mess,” the boater said.
The boater was afraid to take the objects to Nassau on his boat.
