Nassau Facing Water Dry Up

The Water and Sewerage Corporation said one of its water transporting vessels is currently on statutory drydock. Two alternative vessels have been engaged to provide transshipment services during the drydocking period.

Further, there has been a series of phasing in and logistical problems that have resulted in water trasportation delays. These transshipment delays have resulted in a decline of storage levels around New Providence.

Consumers are requested to make a “conscious effort” to conserve water until the source of supply problems are resolved and receiver levels are increased.

As a precautionary measure the corporation will be reducing water pressure during off-peak periods and will continue to reduce water resources below normal levels until such time as storage tank levels are restored.
