Another Weekend of Crime and Violence


Ian Smith, the first victim, was shot in the right thigh on Friday night.


Mr. Smith told police he was playing dominoes with some friends on east Street and Bahama Avenue when he heard a large sound and felt a burning sensation in his thigh. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound.


On Saturday, Mario Major, 16, was walking on Montell Heights when he felt a burning sensation in his left leg. He was also taken to the hospital where where he was treated and discharged.


Police have not determined a motive in any of the shootings.


Police are also investigating a stabbing that took place on Sunday. Twenty-four-year-old Mario Capron was stabbed in the right side during a fight near Circle Palm Road. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital and is being treated for injuries.


Police are also investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Buy For Less store on East Street on Sunday, when a masked man, concealing an unidentified object, entered the store.


Super Value on East Street and Windsor Lane was also robbed by three masked men who fled on foot.
