The event, co-hosted by the Council for International Tax Education (CITE) and the River City Group, will examine the legal issues and implications involved in establishing an offshore website offering online gambling activities, will look at legal tax minimisation techniques for such a business, and will examine the protection of trademarks and copyright within an international e-commerce setting.
Other issues set to be examined include the implications of the US Patriot Act and recent anti-money laundering legislation for offshore gaming operators, and the legal and tax consequences of events such as mergers, IPOs and liquidations within an US and European context.
In a statement released this week, CITE also revealed that:
“Due to concerns over recent activity in US courts, CITE and River City Group have added a session concentrating on advertising for online gambling services in the United States. Advertising law expert Lawrence G. Walters of Weston, Garrou & DeWitt will lead this very important discussion.”
