Lyford Cay Billionaire Eyes Cable Beach Hotels

Lyford Cay billionaire Joe Lewis is the financial backer for a group exploring the possibility of acquiring both the Radisson Cable Beach and Wyndham Nassau & Crystal Palace Resort and Casino, with a view to merging both properties into a single mega hotel sources have revealed to The Tribune.


The reclusive billionaire is understood to be backing the group that holds the Hard Rock Cafe franchise for Nassau, which sources said includes one of his sons. also involved with the Hard Rock Cafe franchise and the possibility of a bid for the hotels are Michael Fowler, owner of the popular downtown restaurant, Green Shutters and the former PLP MP, Marvin Oinder, sources said.


They added that preliminary talks had already taken place with both Wyndham owner Philip Ruffin and the government, which owns the Radisson through the Hotel Corporation but no agreement has been finalised. At least one other party is understood to be interested in acquiring both the Radisson and the Wyndham, although their identity currently remains unknown.
