$22,000 Stolen From Pizza Parlour Employee

It was reported to police the female employee, while walking toward the bank, was pushed to the ground by a dark male wearing black clothing and a black tam. He took the deposit bag from her.

Police say the man escaped, running through the rear of the shopping centre in the direction of Kemp Road. He was pursued by a man in the area, but the suspect was able to make good his escape.

Chief Supt. Hulan Hanna said police are following some leads in connection with the matter.

He appealed to business people to be mindful of the importance of being safety and security conscious.

“If you take it upon yourself to take risk, then you must be prepared for the consequences. You can call upon the police and the police will assist you at no cost, unless you are asking for private engagement,” Mr. Hanna stressed.

He stated that if police services are not considered adequate, business people should consider retaining the services of armoured vehicles, to transport their funds.

He further advised them “to know who they have in their employ, especially when one deals with the movement of large sums of money.”

“At the end of the day we want owners and operators of businesses to make sure that nothing in their behaviour contributes to lawlessness,” Mr. Hanna stated.
