Mr. Christie was among several leaders in the region who met with Mr. Blair at the CARICOM/UK forum annual breakfast meeting yesterday.
In a conference call from London to reporters in Nassau Mr. Christie said he was “troubled and concerned ” that the British government seemed to have surrendered their pre-eminence in its relations with the Bahamas, allowing the US to form stronger ties.
“If that was the case I understood that it was because of our proximity to the United States and the common interest that we shared on safety and drug trafficking and alien smuggling.”
