In cooperation with the Nassau Tourism Development Board and the Ministry of Tourism, Clear Channel Bahamas has launched the new website www.nassaunights.com to showcase the festivities in Nassau. Clear Channel Bahamas is a local company that is affiliated with the Clear Channel International, which has a presence in over 66 countries around the world.
Nassau Nights was organized to give the shops and restaurants maximum exposure opportunities while providing entertainment to both visitors and locals. This year over 65 stores and restaurants have rolled out the red carpet for visitors and residents to enjoy the excitement of Christmas on Bay.
The sidewalk entertainment will liven up Bay Street. The launch officially kicked off with the Christmas Tree Illumination ceremony on the northern side of Rawson Square, across from Festival Place, where the Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band, the National Children’s Choir, the St. Ann’s School Choir, and the Wesley Methodist Bell Ringers participated in a musical prelude.
Bay Street in particular promises to shine. Over 100,000 lights will sparkle as businesses compete in the “Light Up The Town” exterior display contest. A winner will be selected for the best large property lighting display and the best property display.
“www.nassaunights.com plays an extremely strategic role in the promotion of historic downtown Nassau and Bay Street to both local residents and tourists” says Frank Comito of the Nassau Tourism and Development Board, “we encourage everyone to check the site for the latest information on the Christmas on Bay activities. The Nassau Nights site will be used to promote Nassau and The Bahamas to the rest of the world”. Jacqueline Jones, Clear Channel Bahamas, encourages local businesses and visitors to The Bahamas to take advantage of the site “The site will also be used as an avenue for tourists to get a preview of the great cultural entertainment and shopping that Nassau has to offer. www.nassaunights.com will also play a key role in publicizing key initiatives in the development of Bay Street”.
The festivities will continue on the 13th, Dec 19 thru 23rd, Dec 26th and 27th. There will be an explosion of Christmas lights, live entertainment, late shopping, and special events at the Restaurants, Stores and Nightclubs. Shoppers and diners will also have the chance to enter to win a $2,500 shopping and dining spree, which will be drawn on December 22, 2003.
