PM In Hotel Row Talks

He has intervened in contentious talks between the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union and the Bahamas Hotel Employers Association in a determined effort to take the heat out of the situation.

The talks have been taking place under massive threat of industrial action which observers say would be disastrous for tourism.

Hotel association president J. Barrie Farrington said that when Labour Minister Vincent Peet said that negotiations were at a critical stage, he consulted the prime minister.

Mr. Christie met the union on Monday night and the employers on Tuesday morning.

There is still no clear indication when these negotiations will end. However, Mr. Farrington suggested they may in the final stages.
