Missing Girl Escapes Abductor

Lincoln Poitier, believed to be in his 40’s, is wanted in connection with a bizarre series of events that played out like a television drama. Authorities said the girl’s family knows Poitier.

Police said 14-year-old Khatrel Dorsett was found alive Thursday afternoon after apparently escaping.

Shortly after 1pm Thursday, a male employee of Bahama Hand Prints was driving along John F. Kennedy Drive past the Nassau International Airport when he saw a girl waving to him in the distance, police said.

They claimed that the man said he noticed that the girl was shackled at the feet. He reportedly stopped and called the police who rushed to the scene.

Police say the girl’s mouth had been clamped shut with duct tape and a makeshift bed had been set up for her near the tree for her to sleep.

According to Police Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna, Khatrel was assisted by ambulance personnel, after being found in an unkempt condition. Otherwise, police said she appeared to be in good health.

Authorities now appear to be deeply concerned about what impact the crime has had on her psychologically.

She was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital for examination.

Khatrel, a resident of Quintine Alley, is a 10th grade student of C. C. Sweeting High School. Before her disappearance, she was last seen around 5pm Saturday wearing a beige shorts and a shirt.

There was another discovery – this one gruesome – that caused police to rush to another scene Thursday.

Police say someone alerted them of the existence of a badly decomposed body of a man in bushes, opposite the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Soldier Road.

This came only a day after the discovery of a decomposed body in an apartment complex on St. Alban’s Drive.

Police on Thursday identified him as Charles Stuart, 47.

Around 12:40 Wednesday, officers found the body of the man in the bathroom of the apartment, police said.

According to police, the man’s body could have been in the home for a few days.
