Preparations For Tourism Conference

This was stated by Director General of Tourism, Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace.

Several committees convened during the planning stages to address some important agenda items.

One panel, headed by Frank Comito, Executive Vice President of the Bahamas Hotel Association, and Beverly Saunders, VP, Organisation Development & Training at Atlantis Resort, also comprised representatives from The Bahamas’ major hotel properties, education institutions, trade unions, and other tourism affiliates to collaborate on the role of education in a tourism-based economy.

The final step for the group was a meeting with the conference’s planning committee and the Director of Education, Iris Pinder, to discuss the Ministry of Education’s national education plan and its compatibility with the country’s current and projected needs.

“One of the most important things about the coming conference is that because of the planning committee’s thorough background work and consultation with all interested parties, we’re going to spend the week discussing practical and informed solutions for moving forward – not just talking about existing problems,” said Mr. Vanderpool-Wallace.

The conference is scheduled for January 26-30 at the Wyndham Nassau Resort, and will be opened by Prime Minister Perry G Christie.
