Reports Of Embassy Attack Supported By Reuters

After Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell’s denials in the House of Assembly and on radio yesterday, The Tribune sought clarification from major news agencies.

Asked specifically if demonstrators gathered outside the Bahamas Embassy, shook the gates and shouted for CARICOM and the Bahamas to keep out of Haitian affairs, Reuters checked with its Port-au-Prince representative.

The Miami Bureau said: “Our stringer (correspondent) says this report appears to fit the facts.”

A Tribune spokesperson said last night: “Reuters work entirely on the basis of accuracy and impartiality. they have no agenda other than to provide accurate reports of events. There is nothing more to be said.”
