South Ocean Go-Slow

Some reports called the action a strike, while others spoke of a go-slow. It is not clear what motivated the action, which affected various parts of the hotel.

By the afternoon, all employees at the resort were back to work. Labour and Immigration Minister Vincent Peet said theat representatives of the Ministry went to the South Ocean resort yesterday to help resolve the situation. Mr. Peet told The Tribune the action was a result of a misunderstanding and was not related to the recent industrial agreement between the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union (BHCAWU) and the Bahamas Hotel Employer’s Association (BHEA).

Pat Bain confirmed that the action was authorised by the union but would not make any further comment yesterday, saying that a full statement would be made by today.
