Exit surveys and the new immigration cards reveal a number of recurring complaints, according to Angela Cleare, senior director of the Family Islands for the Ministry of Tourism. Ms. Cleare said that topping visitor complaints are high prices and litter.
“People are asking why we don’t have a recycling programme. There are a lot of complaints about restaurants.”
“They are saying the Bahamas is beautiful, however, there seems to be less marine life. They’re concerned about the environment and this comes up too often – they are saying our bathrooms are disgusting, particularly in the airports and every time I see this I get very upset. It reminds me of when I was in japan for six weeks and they all said to me they judge a country by the way they keep their bathrooms, so we’ve got to do more.”
