Suspect Shot And Killed In Blair Estates

The shooting came as residents claimed that there had been several rapes reported in the area recently.

Scores of neighbors and other onlookers watched from side streets and yards as the lifeless body of the suspect lay in the front of a home on an unmarked street, off Ryswick Way.

Anthony Ferguson, a detective of the Police Homicide Unit, said neighbors reportedly rushed to the home after hearing the woman’s screams.

Two men were reportedly attacking the maid.

“Neighbors went to the house where they saw a black male attacking a maid of one of the houses,” Mr. Ferguson said. “The chaps got together and ran from the house resulting in him being shot by one of the persons.”

Detective Ferguson said that the matter is under active investigation.

Police would not release the name of the man in custody for the shooting.

They also did not identify the man killed or his accomplice.

As the Journal left the crime scene, police officers were seen combing the area.

Ashley Barr, a resident of Blair Estates, told reporters that after hearing gunshots, she saw one of the alleged attackers running from the scene.

“I saw the man in the process of jumping over Peter Dupuch’s fence and he took off running,” Ms. Barr said. “He looked back as if to see if Mr. Dupuch had come after him and he just ran the other way. He was sprinting.”

She described the man as a black male who was wearing nothing but a short khaki shorts with multiple pockets. The Blair Estate resident added that the man had short dread locks and his whole body looked greased.

Ms. Barr, who said that there had been several rapes in the area recently, claimed that the dead man was shot twice, once in the back of the head once in the back.

“I hope that this is the end,” she said. “I’m tired of this happening. I’m always home by myself. I always thought that this was a safe neighbourhood.”
